SOUTHEND United must decide on the future of six of their players this summer.

The majority of the squad have already committed their future to the club.

But boss Kevin Maher and his staff do still have some decisions to make on the following players.

GUS SCOTT-MORRISS

Blues have a year’s option they can trigger in Scott-Morriss’ current deal.

It is certain this will be activated after another brilliant season for the right wing-back who was voted fans player of the year.

He scored eight goals in 44 appearances this season.

CALLUM POWELL

The Shrimpers also have a option they can trigger for further 12 months on Powell’s existing contract.

Powell suffered a serious knee injury in September before returning to come off the bench for the final two games of the season.

He scored twice in 13 appearances during the campaign.

WES FONGUCK

The midfielder has yet to agree a new deal but is another player who the club do have a year’s option on.

Fonguck scored three goals in 40 appearances this season but was on the bench for the last four games of the campaign.

JACK WOOD

Just like Scott-Morriss, Powell and Fonguck, Jack Wood also has an additional 12 months on his contract which can be triggered.

Wood scored three goals in 31 games this season with 22 of those appearances coming from the bench.

JASON DEMETRIOU

The experienced defender combined playing with coaching this season.

The 36-year-old made 27 appearances this season and also played a big part behind the scenes.

Demetriou has been with Blues since 2016.

DAVID MARTIN Martin made 10 appearances between the sticks for the Shrimpers this season and was a real unsung hero behind the scenes too.

The 38-year-old has worked superbly well as goalkeeping coach alongside Collin Adeng Ndi
