TWO elderly people were rescued after a fire broke out in the library of a sheltered accommodation block.

Crews from Rayleigh Weir, Hawkwell and Leigh were called to Chignal House, in Tendring Road, Rayleigh shortly before midnight last night. When the arrived at the scene the library was fully alight.

Firefighters donned breathing equipment before tackling the blaze, and rescuing the two residents, with an 80 year-old man left in the care of the Ambulance Service, having suffered the effects of smoke inhalation.

The fire had been put out by 12:30am.

Fire brigade stood down after 35 mins! Not a big fire
They would only stay the same time as a chip pan fire
Don't take what I say as anything against the Fire Fighters but don't give them credit for everything they do, it is their job.

And why shouldn't they get credit. How do you know how long it takes to do a job. Their job is one of only a few where they put their own lives on the line to save another, so full respect to what them
