LABOUR and Ukip have taken two seats up for grabs in Laindon Park and Fryerns ward in Basildon.
The Tories standing in the seat were senior members John Dornan and Terri Sargent.
Ukip's Mark Ellis and Labour's Bill Archibald took the seats.
Mr Ellis said: "I'm stunned. I didn't expect it - we were hoping to finish second."
