POLICE are continuing to appeal for information over reports a van driver was seen with a gun.
Police were called to Kent Elms Close, Westcliff, at about 12.10pm on Wednesday September 24 following a report of a person carrying what was believed to be a firearm.
Armed police surrounded a van on Southchurch Avenue, Southend, near the seafront and made arrests as the police helicopter circled overhead.
Officers now want to contact a person who made the original call but did not leave contact details and any other people who were in the area at the time.
Anyone who can help should contact PC Mark Sawyer or his colleagues at Southend CID on 101.
- A 37-year-old man from Southend and a 43-year-old woman from Westcliff were arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm.
They have both been bailed pending further police enquiries until Thursday, December 18.
