The Queen will visit Chelmsford on Tuesday, May 6.
It will be the first time the Queen and Prince Philip has been to Chelmsford since it became a city.
Her visit will be focused around Chelmsford Cathedral and the venue's centenary celebrations.
A special service is being held at the cathedral to mark it's 100th birthday which the Queen will attend.
Bishop of Chelmsford Stephen Cottrell said: "The Queen’s visit is the icing on the cake of our centenary year.
"It is an additional honour to welcome the Queen to the newest city in her realm."
