A CHARITY for the disabled has been given a £5,000 grant to offer more creative activities for local people.
The Papworth Trust, based in Witchards, Basildon, has been given the cash by the Santander bank’s Foundation’s Community Plus scheme, which hands out cash to good causes.
The grant will be used to create an art and pottery area.
Stephen Cheetham, operations manager at the Papworth Trust said: “The Basildon centre has helped many people to enjoy learning and creative leisure pursuits for more than 10 years.
“We are very grateful for our work to be recognised in this way and thank the Santander Foundation on behalf of all those who use the centre.”
Alison Randall, branch manager at Santander’s East Walk unit in Basildon said: “ We are delighted to be supporting Papworth Trust and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”
