A MAN has been left with a broken jaw after being attacked in Southend High Street.
Police are treating the incident as grievous bodily harm and are appealing for witnesses to the attack.
The victim, a 23-year-old man from Westcliff, was walking with his girlfriend near the Royals Shopping Centre, heading away from the sea, between 2.45am and 3am on Saturday January 4.
He was set upon by two men who punched him in the face.
Investigating officer, Pc Daniel Barber, said: "This man was viciously attacked in the middle of Southend High Street and was knocked unconscious. He was left with a broken jaw as well as soreness to his ribs and neck.
"I really need to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, as this really is a nasty assault.”
