CELEBRITY chef and Essex lad Jamie Oliver is back on TV on Friday with Friday Night Feast, filmed partly in Southend.

Shooting took place on the pier in September and featured a host of stars cooking alongside Jamie and his boyhood friend, Jimmy Doherty.

The world’s fastest man Usain Bolt, and Hollywood actress Sienna Miller visited the pier in late summer for a few cooking tips.

The sprinter even challenged Jamie to a chopping race – which Usain lost.

Southend Standard:

Jamie said: “He went: ‘Dude, I just got to learn how to chop fast like a chef.’ Typical Usain – he wants to chop and he wants to chop fast. He’s naturally competitive, so he wasn't too pleased about that.”

Jamie and Jimmy teamed up previously for their Food Fight Club programme last year.

The new series sees the pair travelling around the country in a Ford Capri.

Southend Standard:

The main thrust is about cooking dishes to impress friends and family at the weekend, from the perfect roast potatoes to delicious meals prepared inside a dustbin.
