I am absolutely incensed by what I witnessed in Southend High Street on Friday evening.
I went to Pizza Express with my grandson at about 6pm and we left at about 7.30pm. We walked towards the taxi rank and in plain view, just a few yards away, was what I can only describe as an open urinal with two guys using it in plain view of the public, which at that time included a lot of children.
I asked our taxi driver what was going on, and she told me these were in the High Street to stop men using shop doorways as urinals after the football.
Fine, but this was 7.30 in the evening, football was only just under way, and the urinal was a few yards from the Odeon complex.
What a completely outrageous and unsuitable sight for young families.
Maybe I can understand the need for these later in the evening when football finished, but in the name of common decency, these should have been covered up and not available for use until then.
