A WOMAN has grown her hair to waist length – just to get it chopped off to help children suffering from cancer.

Gina Butler, 57, has spent almost four years growing her super long locks so her hair can be used to make wigs for youngsters with cancer.

Gina, who runs her own natural health clinic in Rutland Avenue, Southend, will get her auburn hair cut off on May 27.

She said: “One of my friends is going to cut it all off for me and I’m going to give the hair to the Little Princess Trust.”

Gina recently read an Echo story about five-year-old Olivia Drummond, from Wickford, who had her shiny long hair cut off to give to the same charity, which makes wigs for youngsters who have lost their hair to leukaemia.

Olivia asked her parents if should could cut her hair off after her little brother Ted, two – nicknamed Super Ted because of his courage – beat cancer.

“I saw what Olivia did and it has inspired me even more. The Little Princess Trust is an amazing charity,” said Gina.

“I think I'll miss my long hair, but I’ll probably grow it all back again – it’s all worth it.”
