Aldi is currently looking to hire 164 new store colleagues in Essex - including at its Wickford supermarket which is undergoing a transformation.

The country's fourth largest supermarket is hiring people of all levels of experience to fill roles at its stores across the region.

This includes both full-time and part-time positions such as Stock Assistant and Store Assistant, all the way up to Assistant Store Manager, with salaries of up to £40,980.

Stores in Essex where Aldi is looking to hire include Chelmsford, Wickford, and Maldon.

Aldi in The Broadway, Wickford, temporarily closed on March 18, for a major refurbishment and will be almost unrecognisable when it reopens on November 20.

Images of the revamped store were revealed earlier this year, showing a spacious and open design, characterised by glass windows stretching the entire from the floor to the ceiling, allowing in as much natural light as possible.

The recruitment push forms part of Aldi’s nationwide expansion drive, with the supermarket set to open an average of one new store a week across the UK between now and Christmas.

Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi UK, said: “As we continue to invest in new stores, we’re looking for hundreds more colleagues to join our incredible teams in Essex.

“Working at Aldi means a great working environment and real opportunities to progress within the business and we look forward to welcoming even more people to be a part of our success in the future.”

Starting pay for Store Assistants at Aldi is £11.40 per hour nationally, and £12.85 per hour inside the M25, with the supermarket also paying for breaks.

Aldi has also recently revealed it wants to build two new stores in south Essex as it plans to invest more than £400million in store development over the coming years.

Ideally, each location would be near a main road with good visibility and access, with Rayleigh and Basildon among its priority locations.
