Lidl is hiring shift managers and customer assistants for its new store "opening soon" in Basildon.

The new supermarket is opening "soon", according to Basildon Council, in Crompton Close, opposite Basildon Sporting Village.

And the firm is looking for part time customer assistants and retail shift managers to keep the store "running like clockwork".

The assistant role is entry level and staff can earn up to £12 an hour. Shift managers must have experience, but will get up to £13 an hour.

The Advice Store in Market Pavement is also hosting a special recruitment day for the new Lidl store.

Residents will be able to learn about the application and interview process, hear more about their Customer Assistant and Shift Manager roles.

They will also be able to apply, if it’s the right fit for them.

There is no need to book, interested residents can just drop in on Thursday (April 20) to the Advice Store at 5 Market Pavement in Basildon, from 10am to 4pm.

The Lidl store will be at the new St Hilary Retail Park being built off Miles Gray Road.

Lidl has previously told the Echo it is aiming to open the new location this summer.
