PARENTS did their children proud this year with an incredible array of World Book Day outfits.

Here we have a look at some of the wonderful outfits sent in to the Echo of their kids dressed up for the big day.

It is the fun literary event where kids get to pick a book character to dress up as for a unique day at school.

World Book Day is a charity event held on the first Thursday of March every year. It has been celebrated in the UK and Ireland since 1998.

On World Book Day, every child in full-time education in the UK is given a voucher to be spent on books, which encourages them to get into reading.
