A SOUTHEND barber who takes “pride in perfecting every single haircut” is over the moon after his shop has been named the best by Echo readers.
Sonico Barbers, in Southchurch Road, has been recognised as the Echo’s Barber of the Year.
Owner Soner Alici believes customer service should be at the forefront when running a successful business.
The traditional Turkish barbers opened ten years ago and since then the team has flourished.
Soner and his team were recognised for their great service.
“I would like to thank all my customers for voting for us to be the barber of the year in Southend, thankyousomuchfor your support and a special thank you for all my staff for showing extra effort and detail for perfecting every haircut,” said Soner.
Soner started out in the hospitality industry and his dedication to customer service stems from there.
“I started out as a waiter then I later ran Purdy’s Café in Rochford,” he said.
“I started in the barber trade 11 years ago where I took what I have learned about customer service with me. The aim is to make sure every person walking through the door is going to be coming back.”
The premises have recently been refurbished with furniture imported from Turkey and they have installed glass sinks.
The team specialise in services such as skin fade haircuts, face shaves and steam and mask, hair removal such as waxing and threading, men’s haircut, beard trim and shape-ups, and hottowel shaves.
“We take pride in perfecting every single haircut. It is important to us that every haircut is perfect and we take a lot of pride in what we do,” said Soner.
“Some people walk in here not even needing a haircut but they enjoy it here and want to spend time with us.
“When someone walks in we turn and greet them and say hello, ask them to sit and offer them a tea or coffee.
“You would be surprised how many places have someone walk in and don’t even say hello. We believe it is important to have a conversation with people and make them feel welcome.”
