MUSIC, theatre and comedy is back with a bang at the Cliffs Pavilion as big names get ready to take to the stage as part of a bumper programme as it battles back from the pandemic.

Covid-19 forced many shows to be cancelled or rescheduled as theatres were forced to close their doors.

A host of famous faces are now preparing to the grace the Cliffs’ stage this month with others announcing gigs for the new year.

It comes as the theatre was given a slice of £20million from the Government’s Levelling up Fund which will be the catalyst for a huge revamp with a plush new restaurant.

Next weekend includes Astronaut Tim Peake, comedian Rhod Gilbert and songstress Katherine Jenkins all performing.

Comedian Jack Dee brings his new stand-up tour to town and there are also shows from band The Darkness, Gabrielle, Paul Weller and Russell Watson.

In the New Year famous faces include Bill Bailey, Alan Carr, Jason Manford and Katherine Ryan.

John Bishop will perform on January 9 and admits he will be touching on the topic of Covid but it won’t be dominating the show.

He added: “It’s got to be mentioned because it’s a universal experience. Like anything else that you’ve all been through, you’ve got to acknowledge it.”

Star Will Young has announced he will be coming to Southend as part of a tour of the UK next year.

Will said: “I am thrilled to announce my Will Young 20 Years Tour and greatest hits album. As many of you know, next year marks the 20th anniversary since you all voted for me as the original winner of Pop Idol, something for which I am forever grateful.
