Laindon Girls’ Brigade will be sending scholar packs to children in Africa.
The girls have so far managed to make up 19 packs. The Girl’s Brigade meets at Laindon Baptist Church. The brigade teamed up with Tools With a Mission.
The charity works with schools to send the packs to poor communities in Africa.
The packs include writing paper, pens, colouring pencils, a geometry set, calculator and other essential equipment.
Debbie Trower is captain of the 1st Laindon Girls’ Brigade. She said: “It is wonderful to be able to give in this way.
“People do not realise how lucky they are to have pens and pencils.”
Ms Trower added: “This personal scholar pack becomes a treasured possession for these children.”
