THE Thorpe Bay Horticultural Society had a good turnout of visitors and entrants at its Summer Flower and Homecraft show.

The event, which was held at the St. Augustine’s Church Hall, saw dozens of people turn up to see the displays and exhibitions.

A spokesman from the group said: "We were delighted by the amount and quality of the horticultural exhibits bearing in mind of the dreadful weather we had last week and, as usual, the homecraft section was filled with skilfully made items.

"It was an excellent show and we were thrilled by the amount of visitors and members who attended and appreciated the hard work from all the exhibitors.

"Brian Bushell, from Thorpe Bay, won the President’s Salver for the best pot grown exhibit, Brian Everett, from Wakering, took home the Rose Trophy and the Cramphorn Trophy for the most points gained by a gentleman at the Summer Show.

"Roni Miller, from Thorpe Bay, was awarded the Warner Trophy for her Floral Art exhibit and Danielle Neadley, from Wakering, won the Claydon Trophy for the most points gained by a lady at the Summer Show.

"Congratulations to them all.”
