TWO knife robberies took place in city streets just 40 minutes apart.

Police are probing the incidents in which two men were robbed in Glasgow's West End on Monday night.

Police have not ruled out the possibility they could be linked.

In the first incident, a 27-year-old man was robbed while walking along Belhaven Terrace just before 11pm.

The robber, armed with a knife, ran off with cash and the victim's mobile phone.

Just 40 minutes later, a 35-year-old in Ferry Road was stopped when a white van pulled up.

A man got out of the passenger side of the van and threatened him with a knife. The suspect again got away with the man's mobile phone.

Both men were uninjured in the attacks but were left badly shaken.

The male suspect in the first case is believed to be Asian, aged between 20 and 24-years-old and wearing a grey hooded top and white woollen gloves.

The suspect in the second robbery is also believed to be Asian, aged between 20 and 29-years-old and wearing a black and grey diamond checked hooded top.

The white van is described as being a small car style van.

Police are now appealing to the public for help in identifying the robbers.

Detective Constable Lynne Healy, of Partick CID, said: "These were nasty and unprovoked attacks which have left both males badly shaken.

"I would appeal to anyone who might have been in the area of Belhaven Terrace or Ferry Road around the time of the incident or who might have seen the suspects hanging around prior to the incident to contact Partick CID."
