AMERICAN rapper 50 Cent has quashed rumours he is about to quit music by announcing a Glasgow gig.

The star axed a series of performances and scrapped a European tour last week after being beaten to the top of the album charts by Kanye West.

The rapper vowed to retire if his rival outsold his latest album Curtis and cancelled plans to play the Mobos and MTV awards.

But today he announced plans for a string of UK dates, including two performances in Scotland.

Fiddy', who has sold more than 20million albums worldwide, will play the SECC on November 8.

A spokesman for DF Concerts said: "Contrary to reports he is retiring, 50 Cent has confirmed that he will be playing Glasgow SECC and Aberdeen AECC in November."

Tickets for both gigs will go on sale online at 9am tomorrow and through a dedicated ticket hotline.

50 Cent - whose hits include In Da Club and Candy Shop - enjoyed international success with his first albums Get Rich Or Die Tryin' and The Massacre.

Figures show the star sold 691,000 copies of Curtis in its first week of release in the US, compared with 957,000 copies of Kanye West's Graduation.

Tickets for 50 Cent's November gig will be available tomorrow from www.gigsinscotland.com or by calling Ticketmaster on 0870 169 0100.
