SECTIONED Britney Spears' father has been granted an extended power of attorney over the singer's £21million estate - even though she doesn't want him to have it.

James Spears and a lawyer were handed the power until February 14 by a judge who also appointed a doctor to evaluate the troubled pop star.

Britney remains in a hospital psychiatric ward but Adam Streisand, who sought to enter the case as Spears' lawyer, said: "She has expressed to me very strongly that her father not be the conservator. There has been an estrangement for quite some time and this is causing her more distress."

Meanwhile, a court lawyer said Spears didn't understand the proceedings and "lacks the capacity to retain counsel".
