CARLOS CUELLAR believes Jean-Claude Darcheville's fiery temperament is exactly what Rangers need to make an impact this season.

Both players made their Ibrox debuts in Tuesday's friendly against Ajax and were thrust into the spotlight for very different reasons.

Cuellar opened his account for Rangers by bagging the opener, before John Heitinga's second-half equaliser earned a 1-1 draw for the Dutch.

Darcheville picked up a yellow card for tangling with George Ogararu following a late challenge from the Ajax player - not his first flare-up since arriving in the summer.

But Cuellar said: "He is a very aggressive player - but that is a good quality for a striker.

"He is strong, and you need people like that in a successful team.

"When you see a team-mate trying 100% and giving everything to win the game then that spreads throughout the team.

"It inspires and makes everyone try harder in 50/50 tackles.

"His approach is the way it should be."
