A MAN has been found dead in Southend's public toilets.

Pitman's Close toilets were cordoned off by police from about 4pm today after the body of the Southend man in his 40s was found in one of the cubicles, which was then covered with a blue sheet.

A single police squad car was at the scene along with an ambulance and a paramedic car and two Cory workers left the scene to give statements at the police station at about 4.50pm.

The cause of the man's death has not yet been established but police and paramedics are continuing their investigations.

A spokesman said: "Inquiries are underway into the circumstances surrounding a death in Southend.

"Police were alerted to a seriously ill man inside public toilets on Pitman's Close at 4pm on Saturday, May 3.

"Officers arrived and found the body of a local man his 40s.

"The area has been cordoned off while officers identify how the man died.

"At this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained."

There seems to be an awful lot of deaths happening in those toilets. I remember a few months back, I see the paramedics with some dead guy half laying out of one of the toilets, on my way to work in the late afternoon.
If you ask me, I reckon those toilets are cursed, lol.

Definitely.

No one dies outside of Southend, everyone lives forever.

It would be interesting to know whether, and if so how many, of the readers who found the above comments offensive actually took the trouble to register their disgust by using the ‘report this post’ link.

If such reports were submitted then I think we would be entitled to hearing Newsquest's reasons for not taking action to expunge the grossly offensive comments.

Whether or not any formal reports were submitted there can still be no excuse for the editorial staff not monitoring the substance of the column and taking appropriate action during the best part of a week that this one has been running.

They moved quickly enough when another 'cess pit brain' contributor (JamesBarne) submitted an equally crass and filthy comment relating to 'The Queen's Memorable Tour of Essex'. (His comment, since removed, submitted 2:46am Wed 7 May 14 refers).

Double standards? - Or maybe just feeble management?

Either way, in my mind it doesn’t say much for Newsquest’s integrity.

if you go looking for offence you will find it everywhere. this is a random thread about an unnamed individual. if you are a relative of the individual why on earth would you trawl through this thread - it is very unlikely posters would pay tribute to an unnamed individual.

I am collating a leaflet in it there is a story, so I wish now to share it with you all, the reason behind this story is my Uncle was found dead recently sometime after his death, I am so saddened by these comments I have read above. I now wish to share part of that leaflet, slate me if you will I do not care but what I care about is a person passed away tragically in a place that was not home, it was a place that was just there please read this then wander about the final line of it. Here goes

I am alone now by me

I am a person with no friends or family nearby, as they have all grown up and moved away, or have passed on. I am too afraid to go out on my own because it frightens me so much. I don’t ask for help because I am too proud, I feel as though I am intruding by asking for help. My home is always tidy because I like to keep it just so, just in case someone comes to visit me, but they never do. I find it so hard being on my own, but I struggle daily to do all I can.

Sitting here looking out of my window, watching the world pass me by, wishing someone would knock on my door to see if I am well or simply just pop in for a chat, but no one does. Oh how I wish they would, please can you pop in to see me. The loneliness I feel is difficult to understand, because I have no one in my life. It means I cannot ask for help, I know this is not the best for me but my best friend is my cat she keeps me happy.

I have not had a nice chat now for several months and miss the company immensely, the only company I have is my old cat that sits on my lap and still purrs when I stroke her, she follows me everywhere because I am all she has in the world, she is all I have. As I sit here in my chair with a blanket on my lap to keep me warm, I make a flask of tea to last me through the day, because it is hard for me to put the kettle on and make a fresh cup when I want it because the kettle is hard for me to move as it is heavy.

The doorbell, oh how much it used to annoy me years ago, but now I wish it would ring, but it never does now though. I cannot remember the last time I heard it ring for a visitor at my door. When I go shopping at my local shop I have to buy just a little food because the bag is so heavy to carry, I cannot carry it, no one to help me no-one

As I sit here all alone one thought comes to me often, what if this was
