Leicester midfielder James Maddison insists he always believed he would make an instant impact in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has thrived in the top flight since his £24million summer move from Norwich.

He has scored three and made two goals for the Foxes in his eight games and earned a maiden senior call-up for England this month.

Maddison did not feature against Croatia or Spain in the Nations League but, ahead of Monday’s trip to Arsenal, the midfielder is confident in his quality.

“I always believe in my own ability, that I can come to this level and have an effect,” he told the club’s official website.

“I wouldn’t use the word easy, as you come up against some really tough opponents, but it’s been a step up and one I’ve relished.

“Hopefully I can keep my form high and my performances good and we can carry it out for the rest of the season.

“It’s been brilliant since I signed a few months ago, I’ve settled in so quickly and I feel at home here.

“I’m definitely happy with my decision to come to Leicester City, I’ve started all the games and I’ve had a good return and long may that continue.

“There’s so much competition for places here, it’s the Premier League, we’ve got such a talented squad. We’ve got so many good players in that dressing room.

“It’s never easy to be a regular in the starting XI, but I’ve worked hard in pre-season and my performances have been relatively good, so I think I’ve been deserving of the starts.”

Arsenal have won nine straight games in all competitions as boss Unai Emery begins to make his mark and Leicester have not beaten the Gunners at home since 1973.

“They’re in very good form,” Maddison added. “We know how much of a threat they are, they’re a very good team, with some world-class attacking players.

“But we will go there with a game plan, and attempt to try and win the game, as we always do. It’ll be a good spectacle hopefully.”
