ROCHFORD Hundred recorded their first victory of the season, beating Ruislip 46-17.

Rochford went into the game on the back of three successive defeats.

But they roared back to winning ways at Magnolia Road at the weekend, running home eight tries.

From very early on the home side showed they were in the right frame of mind and two tries by the excellent hooker Tom Corbet set the mood.

Moments later, winger Laurie Scanigula–Cooke finished off a fine move with a good try to put Rochford 15-0 up.

The visitors responded with a try of their own after some good approach work.

However, Rochford hit back when their impressive number eight James Needham drove over to score the fourth try which also secured a bonus point.

Lloyd O’Connor added the extras and, soon after, winger Sam Barnes finished off an outstanding piece of play with a first class try, meaning Rochford ended the half 27-5 in front.

The second half was more even with the West London side upping the pace and they spent a good deal of time trying to break down the solid Rochford defence.

But when the home side did manage to attack they put together some delightful stuff and a try from popular prop David Coombe was very well received by the team and spectators alike.

After that, another fast flowing move resulted in back row Greg Whight score a try which Dan Needham converted.

Ruislip, to their credit, kept attacking and were rewarded with a try to reduce the deficit but at 39-10 the game was beyond them.

That was definitely the case when full-back Dan Needham went over for a pleasing personal effort, which he also converted.

And, despite the visitors replying with a try from their number eight, it was very much Rochford’s day.
