Hadleigh Park moved to within three points of Men’s Division Four leaders Thorpe Bay IV after a 6-0 win over basement club Hockley II.

Adam Du Tuit and Brendon Pettitt put Hadleigh ahead with a 6-0 6-0 win over James May and Bradley Palmer.

Les Ashton and Sam Wood then put victory out of Hockley’s reach by beating Keith Leathers and Eric Skinner 6-2 7-6.

Nick Wright and Andy Buswell wrapped up the maximum points with a 6-2 6-2 win over Graham West and Mick Ripton to see Hadleigh take second position.

The club’s first team are also going great guns in Division One, where they are second to leaders Rayleigh.

Westcliff Lawn’s ladies’ second team are up to third in Division Two courtesy of a 4-2 win over top dogs David Lloyd.

The first two rubbers were shared as Lawn’s Claire Elliott and Rebecca Attwood drew 2-6 6-3 with Kitty Livingston and Rosie Clark before Linda Gaze and Heather Garland drew 6-1 4-6 with David Lloyd’s Kelly Thomas and Julie Rackham.

But Angela Edwards and Barbara Dilley ensured the win for Lawn with a 7-5 6-2 defeat of Jackie Henesy and Amanda Jackson.

Rayleigh II hauled themselves off the bottom of The League Division Two thanks to a maximum 6-0 win over visitors Kent Elms II.

Cathy Chambers and Jean Catley gave Rayleigh the early advantage with a 6-2 6-3 win over Jackie Taylor and Brenda Lincoln.

Dan Wedge and John Blewett secured the men’s rubber for the hosts with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Matt Freeman and Jason McGinley.

And the mixed pairing of Claire Todman and John Middleton wrapped things up by beating Mark Hughes and Debbie Lincoln 6-4 6-3.
