BASILDON’S South Essex Gymnastics Club have enjoyed more than their fair share of success over the last few weeks.

Seventeen gymnasts went to compete at the recent Bury Spectrum floor and vault competition. Erin Bellman took the gold medal and won the competition overall in the 6-7 age group with Abby Forkner taking the bronze medal.

Also in this age group were Tegan Rees, Raniah John, Kerry King, Ashleigh Saunders, Samantha Bodimede, Carly Wright, Jessica Hinder, Kelsey Hurst, Georgina Gundle, Grace Dalton and Katie Grange.

In the third competition South Essex saw another gold medal winner in the 7-8 age group as Annie Draper came out on top.

At the Compulsory National Four and Three Finals Ellie Reynolds, Josephine Tang and Faith Everett were all in action.

Both Ellie and Josephine were competing in the level three competition for the East region team which they made after qualifying through the regional final back in March.

The East region team finished with the gold medal overall. Ellie took seventh overall, with a total score of 59.550 with a second place on bars, while Josephine finished 12th overall with a total score of 58.300. She claimed fourth on the beam and third on range and conditioning.

Faith Everett also took part in the compulsory four competition and did well, scoring 55.850 overall.

Following that, South Essex had five girls qualify to compete at the Regional Grade Final.
