BLUES’ new assistant manager Tommy Widdrington has urged those connected with the club to look forward not back.
Widdrington, who had been in charge at Salisbury Town, will work alongside Paul Sturrock at Roots Hall.
And he is sure that together they can bring success back to Southend.
“We need to look forward not back now and invent a new history for the football club,” said Widdrington, 38.
“There is no point looking in the rear view mirror of the car you have to look at the front windscreen. It’s important people draw a line because things change in football.
“In time we will get it right and we want people to fall back in love with the club.
“It’s an attractive place to be because the ground is very rarely not at least 75 per cent full and it’s a nice part of the world as well.
“It’s certainly a lot warmer and sunnier than where Paul and I come from and we’re excited by the task we’re facing.
“Impossible is also not a word in my vocabulary.”
