SOUTHEND United’s new manager Paul Sturrock does not feel he is facing an impossible job at Roots Hall.
Sturrock currently has just nine first team players and is unable to bolster his squad because of a transfer embargo.
The club are also facing two winding up orders and have yet to pay all of their players for May and June But Sturrock insists he is used to dealing with such difficulties and is relishing the challenge of transforming the club’s fortunes.
“When I went to Sheffield Wednesday they were £27million in debt and I think Swindon were in about half of that when I went there” said Sturrock.
“I know it’s a big challenge but I’m excited by that and this is my kind of club.
“It’s not an impossible job and we want to hit the ground running and start winning football matches.”
