VARIED conditions suited Rochford’s Doggetts lake this week.

Match man and local angler Jon Hanks fished the south bank landing a 23lb mirror plus a 16lb common.

Mark Smith fished the north bank for a night banking an 18lb common, a fully scaled at 18lbs plus a 23lb mirror.

Smith also landed a good number of tench and lost another carp.

Smith returned for a second visit to the same swim and was very disappointed to have a hook pull on what he described as a very big fish which was not being stopped.

Rather than watch the football Aaron Walden from Southend and Mark Dine fished the margins just for an evening.

Numerous tench were banked plus Smith had a scrappy 14lb common while Walden was delighted with a 20lb fully scaled mirror.

Phil Belton had a 21lb mirror from the east bank plus tench.

The short produced two nice fish for Ian Stuart and Jon Sleep.

Stuart had a 16lb mirror while Sleep landed a fine 22lb common.

Ed McIntosh fished a session on the long arm where despite losing two good carp McIntosh landed four mirrors to 18lbs plus commons of 14, 15 and 18lbs, plus some very fine tench.

The float fishermen had a good week with the best number of tench falling to Peter Barnes on the south bank point who had bream to five pounds plus 16 tench on float-fished corn.
