SOUTHEND United boss Mark Molesley is still in transfer talks with an experienced striker.

The Shrimpers have scored just six goals in 13 League games so far this season.

And Molesley is keen to add to his attacking options as he bids to get the bottom of the table Blues out of trouble.

"Talks are ongoing with that target," said Molesley.

"We’re quite specific on who it is and who we want, we always have been.

"It’s too early to tell at the moment but we haven’t have scored as many goals as we would like, that’s for sure.

"We’re probably just missing someone who has been there and done it with a bit more nouse up top.

"We will always look at areas we can improve and add to what we’ve already got.

"That’s probably an area where we are lacking someone recognised who is used to doing week in, week out in the League."

The striker Blues are in talks with is believed to currently be without a club but he would not be able to be officially registered by the Shrimpers until the transfer embargo is lifted.
