Dan Thrale was in fine form at the Southend & District Winter Tennis Finals, winning the men’s singles title for the first time.

Thrale had previously won the summer equivalent and produced a strong showing to make it a double success.

Emily Thompson, who is a terrific prospect for the future, won two titles as she triumphed in the ladies singles and the mixed doubles where she teamed up with Rayleigh’s club coach Ryan Wilson.

Paul Clark and Sam Bayda won the men’s doubles title for the first time while Chloe Jackson and Susie Staunton also won the ladies doubles title for the first time.

Cally Flinders and Sarah Ball retained their ladies senior doubles trophy., meaning Flinders has now won this title in seven out of the last eight years with two different partners.

There was also a really good match in the plate men’s doubles where all the players were aged under.

But it was the Rayleigh pair of Joe Beeching and Louis Rawley who were victorious in three tight sets.

Giles Brickwood and John Pearson retained their men’s senior doubles trophy beating the Eley brothers in an entertaining match.
