SOUTHEND United are close to signing a goalkeeper on an emergency loan from a Championship club.
Blues’ first choice shot-stopper Mark Oxley is facing longer than originally expected on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
And Campbell - who handed a debut to 18-year-old Harry Seaden on Tuesday night - is close to bolstering his options between the sticks with a move expected to be completed before Saturday's clash with Burton Albion.
Speaking on Wednesday, Campbell said: “We’re looking for a goalkeeper but it’s not easy.
“We can get round the rules and get a keeper in but any other situation we wouldn’t be able to get anyone in.
"We’ll keep trying but if we have to use the academy in that position then that’s not a problem and we’ll get on with it.”
