ECHOSPORT’S Chris Phillips will run his seventh London Marathon this weekend - backed by Potters Cookshop.

Phillips is again running for Havens Hospices.

And he was quick to thank Potters for their support.

“I’m so thankful to Potters for their generous donation as they’ve helped to me to raise a good amount of money for an amazing charity already,” said Phillips, who has worked for the Echo since 2003.

“I think I’m set for the most nerve-wracking and tiring weekend possible as Southend United play Rochdale at the weekend and if it’s anything like the Burton game that could be almost as tiring as running the marathon itself.

“But fingers crossed Southend will win and then I can try and enjoy Sunday as well.

“I’m not too fussed what time I get but I’ve already seen there are five people called Chris Phillips running so I’ll just pretend I’m one of the others if I do really badly!”

Phillips has also teamed up with former Southend United skipper Adam Barrett to put together a fundraising football match at Roots Hall next month.

The Sid Broomfield Trophy will see the 2006 Shrimpers squad that won League One play against Colchester United.
