MIDDLESBROUGH boss Tony Pulis is desperate to see some home improvements to give the push for promotion a massive boost.

The Boro boss knows his side have won more games on their travels than they have at the Riverside Stadium this season.

Middlesbrough have not won at home in nine occasions in the Championship so far and that has prevented them from climbing into the top two for months.

Now Pulis’ side head into Saturday’s visit of Queens Park Rangers knowing there is a seven-point gap to make up on second-placed Sheffield United.

Pulis, whose side have won eight at home, said: “We have done better away than at the Riverside, that’s a fact of life.

The Northern Echo:

“We are coming into the back end of the season and we have to improve the results there. If our home form would have been better then goodness knows where we would be.

“Last season it was the other way around. It is trying to find the balance. There are enough games at home to put that right.”

Asked if he would like to hear the Riverside crowd backing his team again, he replied: “The fans were fantastic against Leeds, because we played well. That’s what the supporters want.

“At times we have not played as well as we can do. The supporters pay their money and have a right to criticise and cheer, that’s the way of the world.”
