ROCHFORD Hundred avoided a case of unlucky 13 to continue their unbeaten record.

The London One North leaders have yet to lose so far this season.

And the league leaders continued their perfect record with a 61-8 win at Old Haberdashers at the weekend, much to the delight of prop forward Craig Strachan.

“Saturday’s game was pleasing overall,” said Strachan, who was among Rochford’s try scorers.

“We knew going in that Old Habs were strong at home so to come away with quite a convincing win in dreary conditions was enjoyable.”

Rochford also went through last season unbeaten.

And Strachan is now pleased be sitting top of the London One North standings, eight points clear of second placed Colchester.

“The winning run and the point stats are very pleasing but we know the ultimate goal is promotion and anything less would be a disappointment,” said Strachan.

“For me personally it was also good to score a try at the weekend.

“I don’t get many but I think I was the only player in the squad to not have one this year so I was starting to get a little concerned.”

But Strachan insists Rochford will not be resting on their laurels.

“The team are always keen to build and you are only as good as your last performance,” said Strachan.

“It is very much a case of working towards the next game.”

Rochford opened the scoring with an early Jodie Allen try at the weekend with Cameron Greenhall adding the conversion.

Haberdashers hit back with a penalty but Rochford were soon back on top with Strachan touching down.

The speedy Iain Meads then also sprinted through to score before Allen powered over for his second try of the game to make it 26-3 at half-time.

After the break, captain Harry Hudson smashed over after being ably assisted by Sam Fombo and Greenhall converted.

A third try by the powerful Jodie Allen followed and so did the conversion before a second Meads try took the score to 47-3 with another conversion from Greenhall.

Moments later, Sam Fombo won the ball from a line-out to tee up Chris Shields to score a try Greehall was again able to convert.

Moments later, Hudson bagged his second try of the game to complete the scoring.

Rochford Hundred will now be seeking another win when they head to local rivals Southend Saxons this weekend.
