BILLERICAY Town ended a turbulent week with a 2-0 triumph at Eastbourne Borough.

Hot-shot Jake Robinson was sold to Maidstone United on Friday while Scott Doe, Adam Cunnington and Ricky Modeste also moved on.

Rumours still persist about a possible takeover but boss Dean Brennan was pleased to get back to action.

And he was delighted to secure a victory which saw Billericay move up to third in the National League South table.

“A lot has gone on this week and a lot has been said which is negative but I think what’s happened is positive,” said Brennan.

“But we’ll all be judged by football matches and I’m so happy to have come here and got three points as well as a clean sheet.

“A goal in either half could make 2-0 my new favourite score-line.

“But I’m just so proud of everyone at the club that we’ve got this result.”

Billericay broke the deadlock with a penalty which was slotted home by Ross Lafayette.

The spot-kick was bravely won by Adam Coombes who had to be stretchered off with a head injury after a lengthy spell of treatment.

Coombes recovered well enough to be able to listen to the remainder of the match on the radio.

But Brennan insisted Billericay were determined to win for their team-mate.

“We won the game for Coombesy,” said Brennan.

“We will all go and see him in hospital too.”

Devonte Aransibia was also on target for Billericay.

>East Thurrock secured a shock 2-0 win against Chelmsford City.

Ben Marlow and Sam Higgins were both on target for Rocks who now sit second from bottom in the National League South table.
