A RECORD turnout of 40 Castle Point Joggers members braved the cold weather to take on the cross country course at One Tree Hill.

The first male Castle Point Jogger to complete the 8.5km course was Richard Bonham, who secured 67th place.

John Sweeney and Martin England also scored points by claiming 75th and 80th position respectively.

Colin Dunn, Ben Avery and Ray Selwyn completed the Castle Point Joggers male scorers by finishing 83rd, 87th and 101st, while 17 others completed the course.

Meanwhile, the ladies put in a superb performance to help Castle Point Joggers finish in third place overall, to improve on last year’s placing of fourth.

Anne Hoeb was the first female to cross the finish line, as she came 31st.

Lauren Parker performed admirably to ensure a 43rd place finish.

Christina Edwards was just behind Parker in 44th.

The trio were the only point scorers for the Castle Point Joggers ladies, with Tracey Bradley finishing just outside the point scoring places in 50th.

Eight more ladies secured a place in the top 100.

Castle Point Joggers will now prepare for hosting the popular Hadleigh Legacy 10k.

Although most of the club will be marshalling the course this weekend, some have put themselves forward to take on the course.
