TV presenter and Paralympian Ade Adepitan has been fined after admitting speeding in west London.

The 45-year-old was caught by speed cameras driving at 49mph in a 40mph zone on the A40 near Terrick Street, White City, prosecutor Abigail Akano told Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court.

Speaking from his wheelchair at the back of the court, the basketball player pleaded guilty to the offence on June 17 last year and said it was not intentional.

Magistrate Janette Dalgleish fined him £230 and ordered him to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £30.

Adepitan, who lives in Popes Lane, Ealing, was also given three points on his driving licence.

The Paralympian bronze medallist already had three points on his licence from a speeding offence in September 2015.

A second charge, that he failed to give police driver details on July 16 2017, was withdrawn by the prosecution.

He previously told Westminster Magistrates’ Court he did not find out about the matter until June 31 this year as he had moved addresses from Putney, south-west London, to, Ealing.
