SOUTHEND airport has welcomed its 500th staff member, firmly establishing it as one of the fastest-growing airports in Europe.
The aptly-named Stuart Holliday, 37, from Wickford , has secured a job as the cleaning manager. The dad-of-two will be leading a team of 20 people, responsible for keeping the terminal building clean and tidy.
Stuart said: “I have always been really interested in Stobart because my family is from Carlisle, where the company is based and I have been aware of their reputation as great people to work for. I really wanted to be part of an expanding new enterprise and help it grow.
“I have loved my first few days in the job. Every day is different.”
Alastair Welch , managing director of the airport, said: “Our 500th new member of staff is further evidence of the role the redeveloped airport is now playing in supporting the regeneration of the local and wider economy.”
