A MAN has been found guilty of murdering his former girlfriend in her own home.

Martin Bunch, 44, was found guilty of the murder of 48-year-old Jeanette Goodwin following a four week trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The mother of three was stabbed more than 30 times at her home in Quebec Avenue, Southend on July 24, 2011.

Bunch, of Southchurch Road, Southend, went to her home armed with a knife he had brought with him from his mother’s address .

DCI Simon Werrett, Senior Investigating Officer, said: "Martin Bunch has been found guilty of the murder of Jeanette Goodwin.

"He would not accept the relationship was over and murdered her. Not only did he deprive the three children of their mother, he has put the family through the ordeal of a trial, and even accused her loving husband Mark of killing her.

" Despite the overwhelming evidence he did not admit his own guilt, but the jury on the evidence has convicted him.”

Bunch will be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on Friday, August 17.
