A ROAD in Billericay will be closed for most of the day following a gas leak.
Old Church Lane is currently shut between Mountnessing Road and Wash Road after the leak was reported to National Grid at about 2am this morning.
A National Grid spokesman said the cause was believed to be a corroded pipe.
He said: "The repairs are complete and now the road just needs to be resurfaced. We are hoping the closure can be lifted later today.
"We are sorry for any inconvenience.”
