PART of the A13 was closed for two hours following an early morning crash.
The driver of a white van lost control of his vehicle between Orsett and Stanford-le-Hope shortly after 6am on Sunday.
Firefighters from Corringham and Orsett spent 30 minutes using specialist cutting equipment to release the casualty after he became trapped by his injuries.
Police closed a section of the eastbound carriageway whilst they cleared the scene before the road was re-opened at around 8am.
The driver and passenger were both taken to Basildon Hospital, but their injuries are believed to be minor.
