TO SAY talented twins Kostas and Yanoula Dellas are competitive is something of an understatement.

The pair have constantly been at loggerheads, grappling for the best grades in class or trying to achieve better success on the sports field.

But now the twins of Hadleigh Park Avenue, Thundersley, have something equally impressive to be proud of after becoming head boy and girl at their secondary school.

The 15-year-olds were both elected to the posts after coming through a rigorous selection process at King John School.

Kostas admitted they were driven by a fierce sense of competition.

He said: “We always compete over everything, as soon as we get a school report we are looking over it to see who has done the best.

“We used to drive our parents mad with our fighting, but we love each other deep down.

“I’m glad Yanoula’s been made head girl because she’s very clever, but I’d never tell her that.”

The high achieving pair are predicted A* grades in their GCSEs and are also sporting prodigies in netball and karate.

Yanoula, who is an England netball trialist and wants to be a sports physio when she is older, said: “I’m really surprised and really pleased, it’s a great honour for both of us.

“A lot of people were saying it was going to happen, but there were a lot of other talented pupils who had a good chance.”

Brother Kostas is a karate world champion at his weight after winning the title in Cape Town, South Africa, last year.

He is also a back-row forward rugby player for Essex.

Amazingly, the duo are not even the only set of talented twins in the family.

Coming up fast behind them are the equally precocious Elias and Elena, 14, who are a year below them at King John School and also tipped to do well.

Kostas added: “Hopefully they will be doing the process next year and I hope they do well.

“It’s crazy having four siblings with only a year between them. It’s a pretty loud household.”

Mum Terri Dellas said: “I’m very proud. We are a very busy house and it’s harder now than when they were younger because they’ve got their own opinions and they’re not shy in voicing them.”
