ARMED police were called to a house in Southend after a man threatened to shoot someone.
Officers surrounded the address in Heygate Avenue following an emergency call in the early hours of Sunday morning.
They arrived at just after midnight to arrest three men aged 43, 34, and 30, on suspicion of possessing an illegal firearm.
No shots were fired during the incident.
The trio have been bailed until September 2 pending further enquiries.
