POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a car failed to stop and ended up smashing through a fence on Leigh cliffs.
At 11pm last night the silver Mondeo was spotted by police with no lights on.
When officers tried to pull the car over it failed to stop and was found at 11.25pm crashed into a fence in Cliff Parade, Leigh.
The driver had fled the scene.
Essex Police spokeswoman, Donna Veasey, said: "At no time was the vehicle pursued. There were no occupants with the vehicle and we are appealing to anyone with information to contact officers at Rayleigh Road Policing on 03003334444."
