A THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy has had his motorbike seized after causing a nuisance on Canvey.

Police had received a string of calls about the boy riding arousnd the Avenues, Waterside Farm Sports Centre and Winter Gardens areas and causing problems.

When officers went to speak to him about his behaviour, they noticed he was riding without a safety helmet. He failed to stop for officers at the time and rode off.

Thanks to information from local residents, police were able to identify the 13-year-old rider and went to his home to seize the scrambler. He has also been reported for traffic offences, which means he could be summoned to court in the near future.

Canvey neighbourhood policing team are dealing with people using motorbikes anti-socially as a priority. Local neighbourhood specialist officer, Pc Paul Ross, said: "All offenders will be dealt with to the full extent of the law, which includes a court appearance and their vehicles being seized in certain circumstances.

“We would like to thank the public for their assistance and encourage them to continue to call the police whenever they see a motorbike being used illegally.”
