ESSEX’S out of favour bowler Lonwabo Tsotsobe has launched a scathing attack on the club.

The South African paceman was dropped from the County Championship team after just three matches. And he has now vented his frustration via his Twitter account.

“I’ve never felt like this ever,” said Tsotsobe, 27. “This is the worst two months of my life and you know when you start regretting yourself it ain’t good.”

Moments later, he added: “Talent is overrated. It’s the hard work that you put with talent that gets you places. And it’s just impossible to work in this environment.”

Tsotsobe took just five wickets in the three games he played in the four-day format at an average of 77.60.

He has done better in the 40-over competition, taking eight wickets, at an average of 30.25, in five matches with a best of 4-43. He has conceded 6.28 runs to the over.

And it is those statistics which have seen him lose his place in the side, according to Essex coach Paul Grayson.

“Lonwabo Tsotsobe has been left out because he is not playing well — simple as that,” said Grayson in his Echo column last week.

“It doesn’t matter if you are one of our overseas players or not, if you are struggling for form then you won’t play.

“To be honest, I think Lopsy came over here under-prepared and for an international player that is a huge disappointment. He didn’t realise how tough county cricket is and that has shocked him a bit.”

Tsotsobe’s contract with Essex runs until the start of England’s domestic Twenty20 competition next month.
