A CAMPAIGN to promote Rochford’s shops has been shortlisted for a second national award.
Rochford District Council’s Shop at My Local project has made it to the finals of the Enterprising Britain competition.
Enterprising Britain is a national competition to find the most enterprising place in the UK, where jobs are being created, and recognises organisations that try to transform an area, socially and economically.
Shop At My Local, which was launched last year and involves the chambers of trade in Rayleigh, Rochford and Hockley, aims to encourage residents and businesses to buy locally.
Businesses in Rochford district can join the campaign and receive benefits like free business training, while residents who sign up get vouchers and discounts for shops taking part.
The district councillor for business, Keith Gordon, said: “It’s fantastic to see the impact Shop At My Local has made, and to be nominated for another national award is great news both for the council and for everyone involved in the project.”
Last November, the project was also shortlisted for a Local Government Information Unit award.
