ESSEX have signed right-arm fast bowler Andrew Carter on a month's loan from Nottinghamshire.

Carter will be available for selection from Sunday, July 11, in all formats of the game.

He made his debut for Nottinghamshire at Southend in 2009 when he took 3-32 against Essex.

The 21-year-old Lincolnshire-born bowler, was a member of the England Performance squad in 2009-10.

Paul Grayson, Essex Cricket first XI head coach said: “He is a genuine fast bowler with good pace, he is very raw but will offer something a bit different.

"At 6 foot 5 inches he is sometimes un-orthodox in his bowling and we see Andy more as a four-day player.

“We have used Masters, Chambers and Wright as our seam attack so far this season – Andy will come into the squad and provide an additional competition for places, which is always healthy”.
