Don’t let them build on our playing fields (June 15).
Basildon Council and its developer friends are eyeing up Kent View recreation ground, in Vange, to raise funds supposedly for the sporting village.
Phil Turner, councillor in charge of our land uses, states Kent View’s future will only be decided after asking the community whether they wish to see the land buried under concrete.
I remind councillors that their sole purpose is to act upon the wishes of the community. It’s called democracy.
The community has spoken and does not want Kent View recreation ground turned into a housing estate.
Build upon the ploughed fields surrounding the district and bring into use the 54,170 empty properties in our region.
